Cardboard City, Boston Pops, and a Fanfare of Red, White, and Blue

In case you didn’t know, I’m in Boston!  I’m staying with my friend, Sandee, who goes to Simmons University.  Yesterday, we braved the weather and set out to hear the rehearsal of the Boston Pops.  We waited in line for about 1 hour to get our wristbands to enter The Oval.  Once in, we were happy to find empty cardboard boxes from the crowns that Liberty Mutual was distributing.  With boxes in hand and heads adorned with crowns, we set out to stake out our territory.  After a couple more hours of waiting, the Pops came on stage. Here are some pictures highlighting the fun from yesterday.

There were swarms of people.  Today, they expect 800,000 people to show up for the festivities.

Cardboard city was a hit!  I’m made friends with our neighbors who had extra umbrellas which they kindly let us borrow.  They also had the cutest little girl with them who became my buddy for the night.  Lauren made her rounds between my lap and her aunt’s to pop a squat.  Isn’t she cute?

Sandee and I had plenty of laughs, ooohs, and ahhs during the evening.

Finally, the Boston Pops and Martina McBride entertained us with every patriotic song under the sun.  Tonight, you can enjoy the music and fireworks with us.  Tune in to CBS at 7 p.m. to watch the sounds and sights from the Boston Pops Firework Spectacular.  Happy 4th of July y’all!
