During my summer days filled with school work and practicum hours, I have been finding relief from three little kiddos. On Wednesdays and Fridays, I babysit Eli, Charlotte, and Stana. Typically, I take at least one picture on my phone of something happening with the kiddos. Here are some of the highlights from the past month.
Often I show up in the morning to find Eli in full batman gear. He transforms into character until his cape, utility belt, and mask come off.
Other days, I show up and he decides to be Superman.
And if Batman and Superman don’t work, there is always the Green Lantern. He loves his Super Heroes!
This past week, I caught Eli checking himself out in the mirror. He probably stood there five minutes twisting, turning, and looking at his muscles.
One afternoon, I filled the swimming pool up to let the kids cool off and play outside. Before Charlotte had even gotten into the pool, she had stripped off her swim diaper. (naked baby alert!)
While Eli is all about superheroes, Charlotte LOVES her Cars – especially “lightening” and “mater.”
On a very atypical day, I got to spend my day primarily with Stana. Eli and Charlotte went with their dad to Schlitterbahn for a few hours between lunch and nap. This day was all about me and Stana banana (my favorite nickname for her).
While taking her picture, she was very curious about my phone.
Stana is now 7 months old and trying really hard to crawl. She chooses to crawl when there is something she wants, but otherwise loves to be held.
Eli and Charlotte shopped for several hours one day. They had trouble sharing the baby stroller and shopping cart, but know that “toys are for playing and for sharing, not for taking from somebody else” (I say this many many times a day!). Luckily, they each had their own purses that were theirs and didn’t have to be shared.
Snack time usually consists of popcorn and singing. Many months ago, Eli came up with a popcorn song.
Popcorn kernels, popcorn kernels
In the pot, in the pot
Shake ’em, shake ’em
‘Til they POP!
These are just some of the fun things happening on my Wednesdays and Fridays. Lately though, there has been a little less fun and a little more screaming, melt downs, and possessiveness (“MINE!”). In the meantime, I try to answer Eli’s “why” questions and how to have a happy heart.
