Emilie came to South Carolina for part of her Spring Break. First thing we did, was go to the HGTV Dream Home on Kiawah Island. It was the last day for tours.
They allowed picture taking and made everyone wear booties.
The house was beautiful, but small. I loved the green touches everywhere. The marsh view wasn’t quite as picturesque as beach front. The bathrooms were beautiful and made up for the small bedrooms and living space.
I was shocked at the lack of closet space. This home was definitely designed for vacation living vs. every day.
Overall, my impression was it was a beautiful home, but TV makes things appear prettier. The home lacked character and charm. Everything felt too perfect and like a model home.
We enjoyed ourselves and were excited to have been in an HGTV Dream Home. I will stick to my Canton and Round Top treasure hunting decorating style. I like homes to tell a story and reflect the personalities of those who live there. HGTV forgot about those things.
