Sweet San Antonio

Following up from my fantastic news about receiving a job offer,  I made quick plans to go apartment hunting and arrange a move.

The movers I used from San Marcos were absolutely fantastic and made the “settling in” part so easy.  They managed the boxes and furniture, while I took all the odd shaped stuff (i.e. cutsy decorations) from my storage unit.  It only took 3 hours to load everything, drive to San Antonio, and unload.  I was impressed!

Megan arrived Friday night and in less than 4 hours we had all but 5 boxes unpacked, furniture in place, and were in bed at 1 a.m.  Not too shabby.

The apartment definitely got worse before it got better!  Megan handled all of the kitchen unpacking and cooked some awesome new recipes.  She was a HUGE help to have and then spoiled me with good food and company.

Saturday morning we made a quick Starbucks run for her and got busy organizing and decorating!  I posted one progress picture on Instagram, but didn’t have time for anything else.  I snapped a couple of pictures of recipes I wanted on my phone and sent a few random pictures to family.  I was determined to be unpacked and settled by the end of the weekend.  By Saturday afternoon, we both knew we would be done that day.  Megan suggested going to the movies, but I had crafting on my mind!  She wanted a pumpkin canvas for her new house, so we made a mad dash to Hobby Lobby before it closed to get canvases.  And just like that we had unpacked my entire apartment, decorated, and had time to paint.  Life was so good.

Not to be too proud, but we kind of consider ourselves professionals at the “getting settled” business!  We had so many laughs and praise moments – memories made for sure.

Sunday was spent doing the last details, painting, and saying “see you soon.”

Now for finished product!  I ended up with touches of red throughout with an overall colorful look.

The bathroom (teeny tiny and organized to the max!).

The bedroom (with an enormous closet).

The living space – outside is outdoor storage with a washer and dryer.

The dining room – I plan to paint a big canvas for the right wall about the console table.

The mini office/craft space

The kitchen – In the back corner is a cute little window.

Just like that, I’m moved, settled, and ready to start this wonderful next chapter.  Orientation starts next Monday and I can’t wait!  Look for more blogs recapping my summer and sharing my new adventures in San Antonio.  For now, I continue to count my blessings and have a grateful heart.

Always be full of joy in the Lord. {Philipians 4:4}
